Becoming a Private Pilot
If you dream has always been to fly.. you have come to the right spot.
You may have seen a step by step guide somewhere on the internet on “how to become a private pilot”. Although there are steps and actions that need to be taken to become a private pilot. Every flight school you attend will have a different course structure.
You will have to pass your class III medical exam through an Federal Aviation Administration(FAA) certified physician. You will also have to get your student pilots license. Just don’t do it this exact second. Make sure that piloting is something that you really want to do.
I have witnessed a lot of folks who come out dead set on flying. After two or three lessons they will quit. The reasoning for some is that “flying is not what I thought it would be”. The one that I have heard the most is that they just couldn’t handle the motion. Motion sickness is a very real possibility. Always go on an introductory flight just to make sure your can ride the air wave.
What can I expect?
You can expect to spend anywhere from $7,500-$20,000 on training. Make sure you are willing to donate that kind of finance to this hobby.
Time, you are going to want to fly early morning. I know, I am not a morning person either but it’s all about weather. I have flown both day and night. The air is so beautiful in the morning almost no turbulence until the sun begins to heat the air.
Becoming a private pilot is about addressing weather and knowing your limits. The best way to do this is fly at all times of the day. At least in the beginning of your training try to fly early morning.
Adrenaline, the first time that I flew a plane solo I was rattled.
“Not scared, just ecstatic!”
I just remember looking around the cabin and thinking man, I am all alone up here. It is a feeling that I will never forget.
Your friends are going to question you about flying constantly. They will want to know from the day you start training when can they fly with you. From beginning to end it took me about 6 months to achieve my private pilots license.
